The Langara Falcons meet the Capilano Blues for PACWEST gold
#1 Langara Falcons vs. #3 Capilano Blues – SUNDAY OCTOBER 26, 3:00pm | WATCH HERE
The PACWEST men’s soccer gold medal match is set for Sunday afternoon with a berth in the CCAA national championship tournament on the line.
The top seeded Falcons meet the third seeded Blues in the title game after meeting four times during the regular campaign. In the seasonal series, the Falcons won three times and outscored the Blues 9-3 in the process, with all three wins via a clean sheet. The lone Blues victory was a 3-2 win in the second meeting of the season.
Coming into the postseason, the Falcons with an 8-2-2 record earned the bye straight into the gold medal game. They won two of three to finish the regular season schedule, including a 1-0 victory over the Blues in the finale. They scored a Conference high 22 goals this season with balanced scoring with several players hitting the score sheet led by David Rodriguez Zegarra and his six goals. Masiah Farah and Taigo Shimada are also dangerous weapons and will put pressure on the Blues backline.
Keeper Ziyan Clark-Ismail had a great season for the Falcons with five clean sheets and a goals against average of 0.63. He was named a Conference All-Star and will need to have a big game for the Falcons to advance.
The Blues are in this gold medal game after an incredible semi-final win over the favoured Douglas Royals in penalties on Saturday. After regulation and the extra frames solved nothing, the Blues scored four times in the PKS and earned victory. Surprisingly striker Sebastian Cirotto didn’t take a penalty kick, however he was excellent during the regulation play and scored the Blues tying goal in the 75th minute. With six goals during the regular season, Cirotto will need to play a major role in trying to knock off the top seeded Falcons.
With the victory the Blues play in their first gold medal game since 2018 and will meet the Falcons in a rematch of that title game that same season. The Falcons meanwhile are trying to become the first back-to-back Conference champion since the Royals won in 2019 and 2021, after the pandemic wiped out the 2020 season.
The winner on Sunday afternoon packs their bags and heads to Quebec to represent the PACWEST at the CCAA nationals beginning on November 5, 2025.
