The Mariners and Charges score wins on Friday night
The home teams held court on Friday night in men’s PACWEST volleyball as Week 9 got underway.

The Mariners had a nice bounce back match on Friday night, downing the visiting Blues in an important match in the standings. The Mariners opened with a 25-22 victory in the first set to take the lead, which didn’t last long. The Blues came right back in a highly competitive second set and needed extra points to even the match with a 27-25 win.
In the third, the Mariners came right back to earn a 25-22 win to regain advantage in the match. They kept the momentum and took care of the Blues in the fourth set 25-22 for their sixth win of the season.
On Saturday afternoon they will meet again at 3:00pm as the Mariners (6-7) entertain the Blues (7-6) for the final time this season.
Camosun Chargers 3

The hometown Chargers scored their sixth win of the campaign making quick work of the visiting Bearcats on Friday night.
In the first set the Chargers came out on a high, setting the tone with a 25-22 win. The second set was back and forth as the Bearcats looked for the equalizer, however the Chargers had other ideas. They needed extra points but took a commanding match lead with a 28-26 win. They rode that hot play into the third and finished off the Bearcats in a sweep with a 25-22 victory.
They will meet for the rematch on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm with the Chargers (6-7) looking to get back to the 500 mark while the Bearcats (2-11) desperately need a win.
