Dailly Takes A Break

Capilano University Athletics & Recreation has announced that Capilano University Blues men’s soccer head coach Paul Dailly is taking a break from coaching after 15 successful years with Capilano.

Since 2003, Dailly was one of the top coaches in both the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). He led the Blues to immediate success, winning a CCAA National Title in his first season as head coach in 2003, and followed that up with another CCAA National gold in 2008. Dailly also led the Blues to medals at the 2015 and 2016 Nationals, as well as six provincial championships.

Dailly was named CCAA Coach of the Year twice (2004 and 2016) and PACWEST Coach of the Year seven times. One of the top coaches in the Lower Mainland, he was also twice recognized locally at the North Shore Sports Awards as Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2017. He accumulated a career win-draw-loss record of 142-33-60.

“Paul has had a tremendous career at Capilano University both as a player and as a coach,” said Milt Williams, CapU Manager of Athletics & Recreation. “His coaching record and his many accolades clearly demonstrates his coaching ability. He is a talented on-field coach and he knows the game well. Paul will be missed by many in the Blues varsity program, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Dailly helped develop top soccer talent on the North Shore, coaching 10 CCAA All-Canadians, two CCAA Players of the Year, and five PACWEST Players of the Year.

Dailly also played for Capilano, winning back-to-back provincial and national championships with the Blues in 1990 and 1991. As both a student-athlete and coach, he has played a significant role in helping Capilano remain one of the top men’s soccer programs in the CCAA.
