Basketball Athletes of the Week
The Week 13 honours go to a pair of dominating performances
Lucky Week 13 of the PACWEST basketball schedule is in the books after some incredible individual performances during the Valentine’s weekend. The best in the business this past weekend are:
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
Nadia Singh – Langara Falcons
Fifth year Nadia Singh helped her Falcons earn a weekend road sweep against the Okanagan Coyotes. On Friday, she scored a season high 21 points on 75% shooting, as she bolstered the Falcons offense. Every basket she scored was needed, as the Coyotes mounted a furious fourth quarter charge in an effort to mount a comeback. She also added three rebounds, a steal and a block. Then on Saturday, Singh kept her efficiency high with a near double double, as she scored 12 points on 83% shooting paired with eight more rebounds while adding an assist. For the weekend, she registered 33 points and 11 rebounds on 73% shooting from the field.
Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
Zach Klim – Capilano Blues
Klim was practically unstoppable at CBC on the weekend as he led the Blues to a weekend sweep over the Bearcats by recording back-to-back double-doubles. The 6-foot-11 forward started fast with 12 points in the first quarter of Friday’s win, on his way to a 32-point, 15-rebound evening, leading all players in both categories. He was even better on Saturday, going off for 40 points, 26 of those in the second half while grabbing 13 boards. For the weekend, Klim shot 68% on his way to 72 points while pulling down 28 rebounds and handing out five assists.
