The Mariners Move to the Semis

The VIU Mariners will play in a PACWEST semi-final after a three-set sweep over the host COTR Avalanche on Thursday night.

Offensively the balanced attack was too much for the Avalanche to handle. The Mariners had six different players record at least a kill led by Vedran Obradovich and his 11 smashes. Braydon Brouwer was a force with eight kills and Adam Kapteyn chipped in with seven. Keal Prince was named the Player of the Match with 22 assists, six service aces and six digs.

The Avalanche season comes to a close despite an outstanding performance by Caleb Peters and his match high 14 kills. Gustavo Bertoli had six kills and Breno Fabbri recorded four.

Tomorrow the Mariners will face the top seeded Douglas Royals at 8:00pm MST in the PACWEST semi-final. The other semi features the #2 Camosun Chargers and the #3 Capilano Blues at 3:00pm MST.
