The last quarterfinal on Thursday will see the third seeded Langara Falcons meet the six seed and host Okanagan Coyotes at 8:00pm with a berth in the semi-final on the line.
Over the course of the regular season they met four times including back-to-back games two weeks ago in Kelowna. Both teams won twice during the seasonal series with those two games in Kelowna earlier this month decided by five points or less.
Coming into the playoffs the Falcons are riding high after two straight upset wins last weekend over the top ranked VIU Mariners. They have won five of six in the month of February, with their only set back being a one-points loss to the Coyotes on February 17th. Overall, they are scoring almost 85 points a game and are shooting over 40% this season. They have the top two scorers in the Conference led by Royce Sargeant who is averaging 19.8 points a game and Moeiz Athaya dropping 16.6 a contest.
The third top scorer in the PACWEST is Jarron Quarles of the Coyotes who will need to have a major impact on Thursday if there is any hope of an upset. He had 33 points against the Falcons in their lone win at Langara in November.
The Coyotes are hosting the championship tournament and just snuck into the playoffs with a sweep of the visiting Douglas Royals last weekend. That said, they are playing better as of late having won five times in their last eight games, four of them on their home floor. Overall, they are 6-6 at home, site of this championship tournament. They scored 73 points a game during the regular season and shot over 41% from the field.
These schools have never met in the PACWEST playoffs. The winner will face the Camosun Chargers on Friday in a semi-final.
