Hot Shooting Falcons
The Langara Falcons are off to the semi-final with a hot shooting quarterfinal win
Thursday night the Langara Falcons had an outstanding game shooting the ball from behind the three-point line resulting in a dominating 103-71 quarterfinal victory over the Douglas Royals.
Royce Sargeant set the pace for the Falcons scoring 20 of his 22 points in the first half and was named the Player of the Game. He was able to penetrate and control the offence opening opportunities for his teammates collecting eight assists and even grabbed nine rebounds. Including Sargeant, five Falcons players finished with double-digits. Nic Lafontaine nailed five-three pointers and had 21 points, and Nicholas Chan came off the bench to add 18. Jas Dhudwal was a beast down low with 11 rebounds and altered several shots.
The Royals had a tough night shooting the ball at 33% and didn’t have an answer for the long-range shooting of the Falcons. Tanner French came off the bench for a team high 19 points and Ekman Sohal gathered 14. Gerard Pamintuan also came off the bench and was a sparkplug for the Royals with 13 points, all in the second half and was named the Player of the Game.
The Falcons will now face the VIU Mariners in Friday’s semi-final with a berth in the gold medal game on the line. The Royals see their season close following the loss on Thursday night.
