This will be the sixth all-time playoff meeting between these two schools and a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal in which the Chargers won. In all the Blues lead the playoff series 3-2.
Over the course of the regular season the Blues swept the Chargers outscoring them 210-173. They shot 41% from the field while the Chargers shot 39%.
First Team All-Star Michelle Errico led all scorers dropping in 20 points a game for the Blues and Second Team All-Star Carmelle M'Bikata scored 11.
Defensively the Blues created 48 turnovers holding the Chargers to 58 points a game.
First Team All-Star Kathryn Candell was the best Charger scoring 19 points a game, including scoring over 20 points a game twice in the seasonal series. Kelly Young was also solid for the Chargers, averaging 13 points a game.
The Chargers defence played the Blues tougher and tougher as the season moved forward. First allowing them to shoot 50% from the field in the first game, them down to 41% in the second meeting and finally held them to 31% in the final match-up. They also forced 36 turnovers.
The Blues-Chargers quarterfinal should have a big crowd with the Blues hosting the 2016 Provincial championship, a place they finished 9-3 during the regular season.
The winner moves onto the semi-final on Friday where they will face the #2 Douglas Royals at 1:00pm.
