The Mariners and Chargers each win on Saturday, part of Week 11
Week 11 in women’s PACWEST volleyball wrapped up on Saturday with a pair of sweeps for the island schools.

The hometown Mariners made quick work of the visiting Royals for the second straight day on Saturday winning in three straight sets.
In the first set, the Mariners took command immediately with a 25-20 win and kept the pedal to the medal in the second, winning 25-17. In the third, the Royals had a bit of push back, but it wasn’t enough as the Mariners earned the weekend sweep with a 25-19 victory for their 12th win of the campaign.
Next week the Mariners (12-4) will travel to COTR to meet the Avalanche (6-10) and the Royals (5-11) welcome the CBC Bearcats (4-12).
Camosun Chargers 3

Friday night the Chargers were on the short end of a 3-0 sweep, but bounced back on Saturday to score a sweep of their own and head back to the island with a split.
On Saturday afternoon the first set was competitive and saw the Chargers open with a gritty 25-23 road victory. They continued to play well and took the second set 25-17 to take a commanding lead in the match. In the third they didn’t back down and took the pace of play right to the Avs and won the set 25-15 to complete the sweep.
Next weekend the Chargers (6-10) will be back at home to entertain the Capilano Blues (15-1) and the Avalanche (6-10) welcome the VIU Mariners (12-4).
