A Sweeping Saturday
The Blues and Royals collect a clean sweep on Saturday
Saturday night finished in a weekend sweep for a pair of teams in women’s PACWEST volleyball.
Capilano Blues 3
CBC Bearcats 0
The Blues are the first team to 15 wins on the campaign making quick work of the Bearcats on Saturday night in a three-set sweep.
They would score the weekend sweep after setting the tone early with a 25-17 victory in the opening set. They continued to pour it on, winning 25-23 in the second to take a commanding lead before finishing off the Bearcats 25-22 to take the match.
Next weekend the Blues (15-1) and Bearcats 4-12) will both enjoy the bye weekend. For the Bearcats they are on the road for the rest of the season.
Douglas Royals 3
COTR Avalanche 0
It was a massive weekend for the Royals, who took all four points from the visiting Avalanche to get themselves right back in the playoff discussion.
They would open the match with a 25-17 win in the first set. In the second, they showed a character win as points went back and forth with some great defensive plays on both sides of the net. They would need extra points before finishing off the Avs 27-25 to take a commanding lead in the match. In the third, they kept the momentum and finished off the visitors 25-17 for their fifth win of the season moving them into a third-place tie in the standings.
Next weekend the Royals (5-9) visit the VIU Mariners (10-4) and the Avalanche (5-9) welcome the Camosun Chargers (5-9) in a very important doubleheader.
