Women's Friday Night Finals
The Blues and Royals claim a PACWEST win on Friday night
Women’s volleyball opened Week 10 of their schedule on Friday night with a pair of matches.
Capilano Blues 3
CBC Bearcats 1
The first-place Blues set the tone early in this one with a lopsided 25-12 victory to take advantage in the match. With a score like that, perhaps the Blues thought it would be a quick night, but the Bearcats showed some bite.
They came storming back in the second set and evened the match with a 25-19 win, which may have woke the Blues up. In the third set the visitors found their stroke again and reclaimed the lead with a 25-17 win, then finished off the Bearcats with a 25-18 victory for their 14th win of the campaign.
The rematch between the Blues (14-1) and Bearcats (4-11) is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 5:00pm.
Douglas Royals 3
COTR Avalanche 0
With both teams coming off a bye the Royals proved to be better prepared and made quick work of the visiting Avalanche in a three-set sweep for their fourth win of the season and snapped their five-match losing streak.
They came out in the first and set the tone with a 25-16 win and carried that momentum the rest of the way. In the second they took full control with a 25-17 win before finishing off the Avalanche 25-22 in the third to complete the sweep.
Saturday afternoon at 5:00pm, the Royals (4-11) and Avalanche (5-8) meet for the final time this season in the rematch.
