Week 2 Preview

It’s Week 2 of the PACWEST women’s soccer season with all four teams in action.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 13, 2025

Douglas Royals @ Langara Falcons – 12:00pm – Langley Events Centre | WATCH HERE

The Falcons are at home for the second time this season and are looking to continue to build off their momentum from last weekend in which they earned a sweep over the Capilano Blues and recorded their first six-point weekend since 2014.  Last week they showed they can win with a solid offensive performance one day and then play an excellent defensive game earning a 1-0 clean sheet 24 hours later.  Erin Bhandal was instrumental in their victory on Saturday scoring a pair of goals and was named the PACWEST Athlete of the Week.

Meanwhile the Royals are searching for answers after dropping both games at VIU last weekend including a 4-0 score in the first game.  They scored just once combined on the island and are looking to turn things around this weekend.  The Royals will need to find a way to keep sustained pressure on the Falcons on their side of half to be successful.

VIU Mariners @ Capilano Blues – 1:00pm – Lillooet Field | WATCH HERE

It’s a rematch of last season’s CCAA bronze medal game, which was a rematch of the PACWEST gold medal contest as well.    The Mariners, the defending Conference champions, opened the season last weekend at home with an impressive sweep over the visiting Douglas Royals outscoring them 6-1.  They had contributions from several athletes and when she was tested the Mariners keeper answered the bell.   They have very skilled attackers, and the Blues will need to be ready.

Speaking of the Blues, they upset the Mariners in the national bronze medal game last season and will be looking for more of the same this weekend.  Scoring early will be a key component on Satudray in the opener after struggling to find the back of the net last weekend with only one goal.  The Blues backline will be tested with the high-powered Mariners offence.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 2025

Capilano Blues @ Douglas Royals – 12:00pm – Towne Centre Park | WATCH HERE

The Royals will finally play on their home pitch after three straight on the road.  They are the last PACWEST team to play at home and are coming off their match up at Langara on Saturday.  They will try to use home field advantage to take care of the Blues.

VIU Mariners @ Langara Falcons – 12:00pm – Langley Events Centre | WATCH HERE

Depending on what happens on Saturday, this could be a battle of undefeated teams.  The Mariners played at Capilano on Saturday, while the Falcons hosted the Douglas Royals.  This will be another good test for both teams in the highly competitive PACWEST women’s soccer season.
