Royals Fight Hard
The Douglas Royals dropped their national quarterfinal on Wednesday
Wednesday night the Douglas Royals ran out of time trying to comeback in their quarterfinal and fell to -the Ontario champion Fanshawe Falcons 67-62.
After losing the first three quarters, the Royals played better in the fourth and outscored the Falcons 21-17 but just fell short in attempting to come all the way back. Offensively three of their five starters scored at least 12 points led by Lauren Clements and her 16 points and 13 rebounds along with eight assists. Mackenzie Dalphond was terrific down low added 14 points and 16 boards while Denise Mendoza added 12 points.
One of the downfalls of the Royals was their 21 turnovers and their bench could only muster six points. They struggled from the free-throw line at just 50% in the setback.
With the loss the Royals move over to the bronze medal side of the bracket and will match up with The King’s Eagles on Thursday afternoon at 12:00pm PST in a bronze medal quarterfinal.
