The Mariners and Blues win on Friday night in Week 12
A pair of women’s basketball games hit the hardcourt on Friday part of Week 12 of the regular season, and the home teams got it done!

Defence was the name of the game for the Blues on Friday with a lopsided win over the first-place Royals holding them to 28% from the field.
The Blues “D” forced 15 turnovers and collected 11 steals as they kept the Royals off balanced for the majority of the game and didn’t allow any easy buckets en route to their 14th win of the season. On the offensive side, their starters scored all but nine of their points.
Mia Parkin was absolutely fabulous recording the PACWEST’s first triple-double of the season with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists leading the way. Barcha Hnizdilova led all scorers with 22 points including five of her team’s eight three pointers and Lucia Lopez added 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a team the Blues shot 36% from the field, inching to within four points of first place.
The loss for the Royals snapped their seven-game winning streak after their offence just couldn’t find a rhythm. Mackenzie Dalphond was the best Royal finishing with 14 points and 14 rebounds in the setback.
The rematch between the Blue (14-5) and the Royals (16-5) is set for Saturday night at 5:00pm.

With the Mariners win and the Royals loss, the Mariners pull into a first-place tie in the PACWEST standings have two-games in hand.
They cruised to their 16th win of the season downing the Coyotes on Friday night shooting 36% from the field. Offensively Sarah Cook collected a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds while Trista Thorn and Kiayra Hohlweg each led their club with 14 points.
Aside for Jordan Kemper, it was another tough shooting game for the Coyotes at 27%. Kemper led her team with a game high 21 points and knocked down three-three pointers.
On Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm, the Mariners (16-3) and Coyotes (0-21) will meet for the final time this season.
