Men's Soccer Week 3

It’s another big weekend in men’s PACWEST soccer with all four teams igniting another doubleheader weekend after just seeing each other last week.

Douglas Royals @ Langara Falcons – 2:30pm – Langley Events Centre | WATCH HERE

These two schools meet for the second time in as many weeks after a Falcons 1-0 win last weekend.  The game was back and forth with several chances on each end, but it wasn’t until extra time in the first half when the lone goal was scored.  Dante Tallarico tapped in a juicy rebound that initially ricocheted off the goal post right to him.  The second half was filled with excitement however the ball stay out of the net.   

This matchup features the first two PACWEST Athletes of the Week in David Rodriguez Zegarra (Falcons) and Ayman Sahmudden (Royals). 

The Falcons (3-1) look to build on their first-place lead in the standings, while the Royals (2-2) are hoping to find their scoring touch after not registering a goal last weekend.

These two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm when the scene shifts to Coquitlam.

Capilano Blues @ VIU Mariners – 3:00pm – Harewood Centennial Park | WATCH HERE

Last Saturday these two teams played to a 2-2 tie after the Mariners roared back in the final 10 minutes to score twice to tie it.  The point was the first for the Mariners this season.

Sebastian Cirotto continues to heat up for the Blues scoring his third of the season in that game. He scored again on Sunday and leads the PACWEST with four goals.  He’ll no doubt be closely watched by the Mariners backline all weekend long after all of his goals have come in the last three games.

Both teams do have the offensive firepower to make the opposition miserable so this game could come down to the play of the backline and keepers.

They will meet again on the Island on Sunday at 3:00pm to wrap up Week 3 of the season.
