The Chargers, Blues and Falcons get the win to open Week 13
Week 13 of the men’s basketball schedule tipped off with three exciting games.
Camosun Chargers 98
VIU Mariners 85
The Chargers used their bye week wisely to prepare for their island rivals and played their best game of the season, moving to within two points of the Mariners for first place in the standings.
Five different players scored at least 12 points in the upset as they shot 52% from the field and connected on 10-three pointers and shot 95% from the free-throw line. David Finch scored a game-high 25 points to lead his team, but he had plenty of help. Cole Belton scored 16, Cormick Brown added 14 and Owen Jones came off the bench for drain 12 points.
The Mariners shot 46% but really struggled to find production from the three-point line finishing 8-32 for 25%. Four of their five starters scored at least 13 points led by Keyonte Beals’ 18 and Winston Cole’s 16. Speaking of Cole, he got to the free-throw line 16 times which accounted for 12 of his 16 points.

Capilano Blues 90
CBC Bearcats 86
Trailing by 14 points heading into the fourth quarter and the Blues erupted to outscore the Cats 33-15 to complete the comeback for their 13th win of the season.

Alfonso Reyes came off the bench to give the Blues another dimension down low and tallied 15 points in the victory.
The Bearcats feel like this one slipped away going cold in the fourth quarter and not having an answer defensively. They shot 42% led by their dynamic duo of D’Andre Palmer-Ormsby (26) and Dane-Dre Anglin (25). They combined to score 51 of their 86 points on the night.
Coming up on Saturday night the Blues (13-8) and Bearcats (7-14) meet for the final time this regular season at 7:00pm to wrap up Week 13.

Prior to the game the Coyotes honoured Brandon Porter who becomes the first fifth-year senior of the program, playing in his final home games this season. He played well dropping 15 points with three-three pointers, complementing the play of Phil Holmes Jr who had a team high 20 points and 10 rebounds.
