Bye Bye Blues
A tremendous group of leaders will graduate from the Capilano Blues
The Capilano Blues will say goodbye to several veteran leaders on each of their teams following the school year, leaving behind some big sneakers and cleats to fill.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Maddy Coffin had a tremendous final collegiate season, winning the PACWEST scoring title with 17 points a game and was named the women’s basketball Player of the Year. Her presence in the paint and leadership in the locker room will be sorely missed next year.
Lauren Tomlinson spent all five years at Capilano and was an important part of the Blues success. As the point guard she ran the offensive side of the things and was also a top tier defender able to use her speed and quick hands to disrupt the opposition.
Sereena Hothi was a quiet contributor on both sides of the floor for the Blues during her four seasons. On the offensive side she dropped in four points a game last year and was outstanding defensively. She compiled seven blocks and 12 steals making life difficult for the opposition to find a rhythm.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Kash Lang has been the focal point of the Blues offence since stepping on the floor at Capilano. He has been their leader on the scoresheet along with helping his teammates off the court, and leaves behind a big hole for someone else to step up and into. He was named a Conference First Team All-Star in his final three seasons of collegiate basketball and led his team in scoring last year dropping 19 points a game.
Anthony Tamburrino will graduate from Capilano with three PACWEST medals draped around his neck, including a gold and two bronze. His presence in the paint will be missed as a big, physical body on the defensive side.
Peter Li was a transfer in his final collegiate season after spending the majority of his career at VIU. He joined the Blues for the first semester this past season and gave them a punch early on, particularly shooting from the outside. He was dangerous from the three-point line and made a living playing fast, pressuring defence making it difficult for the opposition guards.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Nnya Mbaoma graduates after five years of incredible volleyball with the Blues. She was named a PACWEST Conference First Team All-Star in three consecutive seasons and was an offensive powerhouse from every position on the floor as one of the hardest hitters. This past season she helped the Blues to their best regular season record with 259 kills and captured a Conference silver medal.
Sibby Bos also graduates following five stellar years at Capilano. She was a force in the middle for the Blues and developed into one of the premier players in the Conference. She tallied 28 blocks last year and was named a PACWEST championship tournament All-Star following the team’s silver medal.
Annika Kuznik is another fifth-year student athlete that leaves Capilano with several recognitions to her name. She was a pillar of consistency during her career, named a PACWEST Second Team All-Star and graduates with three Conference medals including two silver.
Stephanie Sung graduates from Capilano’s business program and is a highly decorated student athlete. In the classroom she was recognized as a Conference Academic Excellence Award winner in all five seasons, a CCAA National Scholar twice and a Blues Scholar Athlete of Distinction five times. On the court she leaves Cap with three Conference medals including a pair of silvers.
Aimee Tilley will leave Capilano following her five years of eligibility. She was an excellent team first athlete who contributed when in the lineup and collected three Conference medals while earning a degree in Kinesiology.
Anna Liniewski came home this past season after spending some time at Saint Mary’s University and graduates from Capilano’s Arts and Sciences program. During her time with the Blues she played some very important points in the middle blocker position.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Kai Belbin is the only fifth year graduate across the entire Blues soccer program. She will leave Capilano as one of the most decorated women’s soccer players in school history with four medals around her neck. She helped the Blues win gold in 2021, then a silver medal in both 2023 and 2024, while also earning a CCAA bronze medal in 2024.
The PACWEST would like to wish these student athletes all the best in their next chapter.
