Chargers Host Falcons
This women's quarterfinal will see the Camosun Chargers meet the Langara Falcons
#6 Langara Falcons @ #3 Camosun Chargers – Thursday March 2, 5:30pm | WATCH HERE
These two teams are very familiar with one another as they battle in a PACWEST quarterfinal on Thursday at the championship tournament.
They met just last weekend to conclude the regular season and each team earned a win. In the seasonal series it was the Chargers who claimed victory twice in the three meetings.
The Chargers are also the hosts of the tournament so will no doubt have an opportunity to feed off the energy of the crowd. They haven’t hosted this event since 2013 and are looking to make an impact in front of their hometown fans. They come into the tournament winning five of their last six games, with the only setback against the Falcons last week. The Chargers are looking for their first playoff win since 2019 and first playoff medal since a bronze that same year. The last time the Chargers won a PACWEST gold was in 2009.
The Falcons claimed the final playoff spot with just five wins this season and will be in tough against the Chargers. That said, one of their five wins came last weekend against their quarterfinal opponent. As of late the Falcons have been playing better and have won three times in their last four games. It has been awhile since the Falcons have been in the discussion for a PACWEST medal and oddly enough their last was a bronze in 2009, the same time the Chargers last won gold. The Falcons haven’t won gold since 2006.
These two-last met during the 2020 PACWEST championship tournament in a quarterfinal that the Chargers won 64-56 as the fifth seed. Chloe Scaber was the Chargers leader with 21 points and now plays with VIU. The last time the Falcons beat the Chargers in a postseason appearance was in 2007 with a 60-54 win in a semi-final.
The winner on Thursday moves onto the semi-finals and has a date with the second seeded VIU Mariners.
