The first place Royals captured their 20th win of the season on Friday despite dropping the first set. Their dynamic duo of Reid Marriott and Max Haronga combined for 39 of their 51 kills on the night. Marriott had 23 while Haronga had 16. Setter Jared Collin had a great nigh with 46 assists.

The Cascades only had nine players dress on Friday night and were led by Josh Fefchak’s nine kills. Graeme Hughes chipped in with seven and Ben Friesen had six.

VIU Mariners 3 – 25-20, 25-23, 25-19
COTR Avalanche 0

For the second straight night the Mariners swept away the Avalanche in three-sets. Setter Keal Prince ran a balanced offence collecting 24 assists. He found Braydon Brouwer 13 times for kills and Doug Groenendijk had eight kills.

Meanwhile the Avalanche didn’t have much luck on the offensive side. Caleb Peters was held to just four kills and Gustavo Bertoli had one. Kyle Butchart was the team leader with eight kills.

Saturday the Avalanche (8-14) will travel down to Victoria to face the Camosun Chargers (15-5) at 8:00pm. WATCH HERE
